Did you know that your small business website is a target for hackers and malicious attacks? Think we are exaggerating? Then you should keep reading...
You may have seen in the news various hacks into high profile companies like Adobe, Home Depot, Staples, Sony, DQ, Chick-fil-A, and many more. Hacking attempts are continually on the rise, and hackers are no longer just focusing on large companies. Hackers are using sophisticated software to detect vulnerable websites, regardless of how big or small they are. As you can imagine small businesses typically do not have the same level of security of larger corporations and, thus, act as low-hanging fruit when it comes to hack attempts. As a result, there has been a large focus on hacking and exploiting small business websites for various reasons including data breach, utilizing system resources (Trojans), installing malware, black-hat SEO tactics, ransomware, and more. Take a look at the following statistics.
424 % increase in new small business cyber breaches in 2020
6 $ trillion dollars will be the cost of cybercrime by 2021
60 % of small businesses that are cyber attacked go out of business within 6 months
At Igniting Business, we are responding to the increase in targeting of small businesses by securing our clients’ websites with ongoing security packages. Most hack attempts look for outdated website coding or features that can be compromised. We offer three different packages (Basic, Standard, Premium) with various updates, remote backups, and hack fix features, designed to thwart many of the common attacks by patching security and updating features on a regular basis rather than retroactively. While we know that there is no way to guarantee 100% that no hack will occur, our packages will greatly reduce the risk and overall vulnerabilities. Furthermore, in our Standard and Premium packages we are including a number of hack repair hours on an annual basis. That way if you do have a hack occur, you will have the comfort of knowing a certain amount of those hours (potentially even all) will already be covered.
If you choose to host your website elsewhere and forgo a Security Updates package, undoubtedly, you will be more vulnerable to website hack attempts, and we can help resolve those issues as they occur on an hourly basis. We will be so bold to say that hack repair is much more expensive than hack prevention.
Once you’ve decided to design your website with us, we’ll review all the available security package options with your company and help determine the best fit for your business.
